The Story
The concept of The Breakhouse Cafe was grown from our founder Chloe's passion for coffee, love for amazing food, and her wish to bring something valuable to the local community.
Our goal for The Breakhouse Café is to provide locally and honestly sourced produce, that is sustainable and ethical wherever possible. A space for people to escape the daily grind even if it is for a quick stop, and to be inclusive of a variety of tastes, reflecting the diversity of our customers.
Steps we have taken:
Our waste and recycling is processed by First Mile which is zero waste
We use Kraft packaging and biodegradable takeaway packaging supplied by Decent Packaging and Vegware
We source most of our products from local independent businesses to support them and reduce our carbon impact
We are part of the water refill scheme - we can top up your bottle with filtered drinking water
Our equipment is upcycled & refurbished e.g. display fridge, oven, dishwasher & coffee machine
We actively favour products which share our ethical and sustainability values such as, JARR Kombucha, Allpress Espresso, Club Mate, LemonAid, to name a few!
We have a composter so that we can turn any kitchen waste into compost.
We have phased out any drinks that come in plastic bottles - cans and glass bottles only
